Lead Pipes

Lead Water pipes can be dangerous and can be rectified by installing a new replacement plastic pipe. Ardent Utilities can use the latest leak detection equipment to assess your requirements and resolve your problems, whether it be a full water main replacement to a point repair on a section of pipe. Our WIAPS accreditation and use of our moling technology, allows us to maintain excavations and disruption to a minimum.

If you find you have a burst lead pipe but don’t know what to do, having a burst pipe in most cases is a job for the emergency plumbing engineer as the flow of water is not a weep but more of a high-pressure flow of water. If you have found out that your supply pipe(s) are made out of lead - we would strongly advise that you replace them with plastic pipes.

Shared Supplies

Older properties, mostly terraced houses and some semi-detached houses, use a common supply pipe system that supplies water from the mains to two or more properties. These properties will share one Mains Stop Tap on the boundary. Ardent can install a new water main pipe via trenchless technology leaving this coiled tat the boundary to allow the water board to come and install a separate stop tap at the property boundary to allow your new pipe to be connected to.

Common supplies often find pressure issues with their pipework due to the strain on the supply. Older properties with smaller diameter pipes also suffer this problem. Although water companies aim to ensure water pressure is no less than a target of 1 bar at the property boundary, your pipework may be restricting the flow of water.
